About The PIO Academy

At The PIO Academy, we believe everyone has the potential to learn and grow, regardless of their background or experience. We are committed to providing a supportive environment where all students can thrive and achieve their goals. 

Our primary audience includes members of fire, EMS, and emergency management agencies who want to establish or strengthen their role as public information officers (PIOs). This includes chief officers, community risk reduction staff, and anyone responsible for managing their department’s social media accounts or interacting with the media.

Our training covers best practices in social media, crisis and strategic communications, on-camera and virtual interview techniques, reputation management, breaking news response, and handling misinformation and disinformation. Training is flexible and can be tailored to meet your needs. If you are interested in hosting a PIO Academy class at your location, please contact us.

We provide in-person training, best delivered in group settings at your training facility.

Primary Instructors

Our instructors are experienced professionals from the media and Fire/EMS, that are passionate about teaching and helping others succeed. They bring real-world knowledge and practical skills to the classroom, ensuring that our students are well-prepared for their future endeavors.
